THE DEPARTMENT OF ASTRONOMY, WELLESLEY COLLEGE
In 2013, I designed, minted and gifted to The Department a medal to be awarded annually to an outstanding student for scholarship and outstanding achievement in the Department of Astronomy, Wellesley College. The medal was named in honor of Sarah F. Whiting, first Professor of Physics (1875) and subsequently first director of the newly constructed (1900) Whitin Astronomical Observatory at Wellesley College. This award was to be presented in conjunction with a newly established Department Of Astronomy annual Sarah Frances Whiting lecture.
